Adventures in Aloha
I am an evolutionary biologist, currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Evolution, Ecology and Organismal Biology in Dr. Christopher Martin’s lab at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Before North Carolina, I was in Hawai'i getting a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Biology in which I did a phylogeographic project on population structure in a widespread parrotfish Scarus rubroviolaceus. I then continued on to do a Master's of Science in Zoology, working with Bob Thomson on a thesis about model performance assessment in phylogenetics.
When not madly typing away at my computer, I enjoy scuba-diving and watching nature documentaries with my cat Tonks. Since scuba-diving opportunities are hard to come by in central North Carolina, most of my obsessions have now been focused on the cat (but I know she loves it). I may also have a small obsession with the Wizarding World of Harry Potter (if not already made obvious by the name of my cat).
Getting ready to scuba dive in Shark's Cover on Oah'u (little to no actual sharks to be had there though)
Sometimes it's computer and cat time combined!
When the love of fish and cats unite!
